Engineering Movement, Inspired by Nature
About
the company
BioInspired Motion Technologies LLC is dedicated to advancing human movement through engineering grounded in the mechanics of nature. Our work draws directly from the structure and function of the sarcomere—the fundamental contractile unit of muscle. By translating these biological principles into innovative mechanical systems, we develop safe, adaptive, and efficient actuation technologies designed to support real-world mobility needs.
This mission is deeply personal. Inspired by the journey of the founder’s son, who faces unique motor and developmental challenges, our company is driven by the belief that motion should be accessible, intuitive, and empowering for every individual. His determination and resilience guide our commitment to creating technologies that enable more natural, supported movement—especially for children and families navigating therapeutic and developmental pathways.
We strive to bridge the gap between biological understanding and engineered performance. Whether developing next-generation artificial muscle components, supporting pediatric therapy solutions, or designing responsive motion systems for clinical and research applications, we focus on delivering technology that moves the way people move—naturally.
At BioInspired Motion Technologies LLC, we believe the future of motion is inspired by life itself—and shaped by those who motivate us to build something better.

Santana Roberts, P.E., is the founder of BioInspired Motion Technologies LLC and a mechanical engineer dedicated to advancing movement solutions for individuals with skeletal muscle challenges. As both a researcher and a father, Santana brings a rare combination of professional expertise and personal purpose to the development of bioinspired actuation systems.
Motivated by the therapeutic journey of his son, Axel—who faces unique motor and neuromuscular limitations—Santana began exploring how the mechanics of the sarcomere could be translated into engineered motion. This work led to two published research papers on artificial muscle actuation, including a recent presentation at the ASME IMECE Conference. His approach centers on designing actuator systems that mimic natural muscle behavior, with the goal of creating technology that enhances mobility, therapy outcomes, and independence for children and adults alike.
For over five years, Santana has served as a lecturing professor in the Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology, where he integrates his research into teaching and mentorship. He is also a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Georgia and works in industry as a mechanical engineering lead with Immersive Display Solutions Inc., contributing to advanced mechanical systems and simulation technologies.
Through BioInspired Motion Technologies LLC, Santana is committed to transforming biology-driven engineering into practical, compassionate solutions—building technologies inspired by life, designed for those who need it most, and driven by the unshakeable motivation of helping his son and others like him.
